Report after 1st Weekend

Wow, what a great Sunday at the first day of the Victorian State Championships. From our newest swimmers Remy Schneider and Joshua Salinger through to our more experienced swimmers Matt Sterrenberg, Michael Forno and Tom Newton we had some exciting swims and an outstanding amount of PB's.

Congratulations to our newest State Record Holder Matt Sterrenberg who created a new boys 14 years 200 Fly time of 2.06.86.

Medallists

Matt Sterrenberg

Gold 14 years 200 fly (VR)

Gold 14 years 100 fly

Tom Newton

Silver 13 years 100 Fly

Special mention must go to Tom Newton who finished a clear 2nd in his 50m Free but was disqualified for breaking at the start. This is a lesson that all swimmers should take heed of. Good luck to all swimmers participating this weekend.

Don't forget we have a final session on Monday 24th September for a our state wrapup. Thank you to parents Tony Forno, Ross Tanner and Mark Newton for doing timekeeping on Sunday - it's not difficult, you don't need any special qualifications and we encourage other parents to have a go next weekend.

Well done to all swimmers.  We had a fantastic number of PBs from our swimmers, with many smashing their previous bests by as much as ten seconds.  Special mention to Nick (Burt) O’Connor, Thomas Newton, Michael Forno, Matt Sterrenberg, Brian Nuwayhid, Troy Gazzola and Ashley Simons who all swam under the National qualifying times for their respective events.  We look forward to these swimmers bettering their times in a 50m pool and travelling to Brisbane in April next year.  Congratulations to Michael Forno albeit, too late, for qualifying for Open Nationals in the 100m Backstroke.
